Another year draws to a close
As we prepare for the spring concert, I have to force myself to stop and think about all the goals we've accomplished this year.
In marching band, we had a dream. Our dream was to make FMBC championships. It seems like it was a lifetime ago, and in a sense it was. We are different people, a different group than we were one year ago today. We put sweat, blood, and tears into that show and we had a product that we are proud to say was ours. We ended this season as a family. We ended this season with our debut performance at FMBC Championships.
Little did people know that this was just the beginning.
As members of the FFCC we have made a name for ourselves this year. At our premier performance I was standing next to the timing and penalties judge. During the show she looked at me and said "Is that SEBRING?" and I just smiled and confirmed. She was amazed that we had matured so quickly. Drumline came out with a stellar performance of their show Tidal Wave, and never stopped improving all season long. Both groups ended at FFCC championships fantastic final scores.
Concert season has given me the biggest sense of pride in my students. I have a band that likes having a high bar set for them, that is willing to work, and is proud of their accomplishments. They have learned some tough lessons as well, with grace and poise that would make every parent proud.
I just want to say that I am proud to be the director of bands here at Sebring.
